From Advocacy to Action
Talethia Edwards is more than an advocate, she’s a proven leader who delivers real results for Tallahassee. An accomplished urban planner, nonprofit executive, and small business owner, Talethia has spent her career turning ideas into action.
As President of the Greater Bond Neighborhood Association, she led the community’s first neighborhood plan, securing a $6.4 million investment to drive real improvements. She served on the Tallahassee-Leon Housing Leadership Council, helping shape housing solutions and policies like Accessory Dwelling Units that are making a difference today.
As Executive Director of Good News Outreach, she leads a $1 million organization serving vulnerable residents, seniors, families facing food insecurity, and those struggling with housing instability. Through her community development firm, she has helped neighborhoods earn recognition and secure funding to grow stronger.
Talethia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida A&M University and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University. She is also a 2025 graduate of the Yale Campaign School, further strengthening her leadership in public service and civic engagement.
In October 2023, she was invited to South Africa as an international speaker for a peace lecture, where she shared the stage with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman, a reflection of her growing global voice and commitment to justice, equity, and community impact. She has also represented Tallahassee as part of the Harvard Bloomberg City Leadership Initiative, working to improve mental health emergency response.
Her work has earned her the Mayor’s Award for service and the respect of the community she’s spent years serving.
